ABOUT US >

CHA was set up in 2001, on the initiative of local residents in Baltimore, a fishing village in West Cork where holiday home development was pushing house prices out of the reach of local people.

This is an exciting year for CHA. To date we have purchased 7 homes under the Mortgages to Rent scheme, saving 20 people (adults and children) from homelessness, and are currently finalising the purchase of a further 6 homes in Cork City and County. We aim to expand the number of houses acquired under this programme to 40 by 2021, thus avoiding the eviction of a total of 120 people and enabling them to continue living in and contributing to their communities. CHA is also working hard to make our Tenants' homes more energy efficient and to integrate renewable energy systems into our properties, through projects like RED WoLF (see photo below). CHA is a community based organisation, it belongs to its Members, and we have been working since 2001 to make our dream of affordable social housing under community control for Cork City and County become a reality. CHA is actively seeking new Members with relevant skills and expertise to support the Association in 2020. Click here to download a copy of the Agenda.
