Application for Housing

CHA invites applications for housing from persons unable to buy or rent affordably on the open market. CHA will continue to work to help you secure sustainable, affordable accommodation, in the following ways:

Private sites for Sustainable Housing Projects – We will continue to identify private sites that might be suitable and affordable for social housing development, and will continue to put forward proposals to Planners for sites which can be purchased for this purpose within Government cost limits for voluntary housing associations.

Proposals for land transfer from County and Town Councils - We have also made, and will continue to make, detailed Proposals to request land from the Council’s Land Bank, to allow us to develop sustainable homes. We are still awaiting a definite response from Cork County Council on proposals made this year.

Referrals to the Housing Authorities - Cork County Council and Skibbereen Town Council have been developing and buying Council houses for persons on their lists. To ensure that our Applicants also have a chance for this option, we have been referring their names to the Councils, as this ensures they are favourably considered when allocations are made.

Shared Housing for Single People - We are currently exploring the demand for shared housing for single people amongst CHA applicants. So far most applicants have expressed a preference for self-contained housing. We think shared housing might be easier to develop, and could be another option, but we would like your views on this through the attached Questionnaire, which we would as you complete and return.

Applicants living Outside County Cork – should make an application to the appropriate Local Authority where they want to be housed, to be put on the Housing List. If you are not on the List, it will make it difficult for us to house you. Call them, and ask to be sent a Housing Application form. If you have any difficulty, contact us.
